The Plenary Session of the General Council of the Judiciary has agreed today to remove from the agenda the debate and vote on the five discretionary appointments that were among the matters to be discussed at today's meeting, corresponding to three magistrate positions in the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court, to the presidency of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands and to the presidency of the Provincial Court of Ourense. The decision has been taken for reasons of prudence given the confirmation of the existence of negotiations between the parliamentary groups for the renewal of the governing body of the judges, whose mandate expired on Ecuador Email List December 4, 2018. Last January, the Plenary of the CGPJ has already decided to paralyze the appointment of judicial positions in the confidence of a prompt renewal of the institution , once the Chambers were constituted after the last general elections and the Government was formed. The agreement to remove the appointments from the agenda has been approved with 16 votes in favor and five against , those of the members Carmen , Nuria Díaz, Carmona, Mar and Olea. Has announced the formulation of a private vote, to which Díaz and Carmona have adhered. Since the end of the mandate of the governing body of the judges in December 2018, the president of the Supreme Court and the General Council of the Judiciary, Carlos , has written to the presidents of the Congress and the Senate on four occasions urging them to comply with the provisions of article 568 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1 , of the Judiciary, which establishes that the presidents of both Chambers must adopt the necessary measures so that the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary occurs on time.
