Within the framework of World Children's Day, Volaris reaffirms its commitment to prevent and combat crimes of commercial sexual exploitation of girls, boys and adolescents in travel and tourism (ESCNNA-VT) in alliance with the international organization ECPAT ( End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Tafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes).
According to the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), the Covid-19 contingency increased the number of reported cases of the crime of CSEC, with 2020 being the year in which the most victims were identified.
Interpol points out that, due to the Chile Mobile Number List closure of schools and the cessation of other assistance services, as well as greater exposure of minors to the Internet, the risk of suffering sexual exploitation increased. In 2021, the first national reports of the recruitment of minors through video games were received.
For its part, the Citizen Council for Security and Justice of Mexico City noted that that same year reports of child pornography increased by 118 percent. The Council points out that the country went from 415 cases of Human Trafficking in 2015 to 550 in 2020, adding more than 2,500 victims of the crime in five years. 51 percent of them are minors.
Faced with this scenario, the airline industry has reinforced its protocols and communication with authorities to avoid situations that endanger traveling minors. Since 2013, Volaris has successfully activated more than one hundred “ECPAT Codes”, through which suspicious activities or behavior during flights are detected and reported.
In 2021 alone, Volaris reinforced training for the prevention of this crime for 4,792 operational Ambassadors and 2,200 new Ambassadors, with the aim of safeguarding the physical and emotional integrity of customers, especially minors.
